Head of Payment

We are seeking a Head of Payments to own, scale, and optimise our global payment infrastructure. In this role, you will lead our payment provider ecosystem, drive card acquiring strategies, manage banking relationships, and optimise routing to maximise approval rates and net revenue.

Your Regular Tasks

• Lead research selection and onboarding of correspondent banks and payment providers

• Define and manage risk appetite, geographic coverage and commercial terms with financial partners

• Own relationships with SWIFT, SEPA, card schemes, correspondent banks and APM providers

• Manage partnerships, including negotiations, renewals and expansions

• Drive re-onboarding of providers under new licenses and support licensing in new regions

• Oversee acquiring and payment provider performance (cost, approval rates, reliability)

• Collaborate with Product and Tech on provider integrations and improvements

• Lead implementation of new payment solutions and provider integrations

• Ensure technical readiness for providers across licenses

• Own payment configurations, system settings and operational management

• Manage updates, fixes and maintenance of payment settings and flows

• Drive automation and optimisation of internal workflows, QA and tools

• Ensure stakeholder communication on all payment and configuration changes

• Improve payment conversion through optimisation of flows and technical setup

• Develop and maintain SOPs for payments and settings departments

• Establish and manage payments analytics and reporting frameworks

• Monitor and optimise key KPIs (conversion, approval rates, routing, cost)

• Lead and contribute to cross-functional and strategic projects (checkout, licensing, partnerships)

• Enable data-driven decision-making across payments and provider management.

Skills & Requirements:

• 3+ years of proven experience in Managerial roles within payment operations (EMIs, PSPs, Payment orchestration platforms, Payment consulting firms)

• A proactive approach to driving initiatives and improvements

• Strong understanding and experience working with the following payment rails: SWIFT, SEPA, SEPA Inst, SEPA DD, FPS.

• Experience working and communicating with different types of financial institutions (banks, fintechs, PSPs)

• Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools is a strong plus

• Understanding of financial regulations and Compliance & AML requirements

• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams

• Strong Problem-solving and Troubleshooting skills

• Advanced level of English
