Role Title: Senior Engineer
About Cloudax
Cloudax is building reliable, scalable software that helps customers run critical workloads with confidence. We’re looking for a Senior Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, elevating engineering standards, and collaborating across teams to deliver high-quality products.
Role Summary
As a Senior Engineer at Cloudax, you will design, build, and improve core systems that power our products. You’ll take ownership of meaningful technical areas, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor others while working closely with Product, Design, and fellow engineers to ship valuable, dependable features.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and maintain production services and applications with a focus on reliability, security, and performance.
• Own technical delivery for complex features from discovery through rollout, including estimation, implementation, and post-release support.
• Drive architectural improvements by proposing, evaluating, and implementing scalable system designs.
• Improve system observability by adding monitoring, logging, alerting, and actionable dashboards.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and reliability risks; implement mitigations and conduct root-cause analysis for incidents.
• Write clear technical documentation, including design proposals, runbooks, and operational playbooks.
• Review code and provide constructive feedback; champion maintainable patterns, testing practices, and clean interfaces.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, coaching, and knowledge sharing; contribute to a healthy, inclusive engineering culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to clarify requirements, manage trade-offs, and deliver outcomes on schedule.
Must-Have Qualifications
• Significant professional experience building and operating production software systems.
• Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C#, or TypeScript).
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems, APIs, and data-driven services.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: data structures, concurrency, testing, and system design.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and modern development workflows (code reviews, automated testing, releases).
• Ability to troubleshoot issues across the stack and lead incident response with clear communication.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Familiarity with security best practices (threat modeling, secrets management, secure coding).
• Experience working in a regulated environment or with high-availability systems.
• Prior mentoring, tech lead responsibilities, or driving cross-team technical initiatives.
What Success Looks Like
• You deliver high-quality features that are reliable in production and easy to operate.
• You proactively improve architecture, performance, and developer experience.
• You raise the bar through thoughtful reviews, mentorship, and clear technical decision-making.
