Title: Senior Java Engineer

Summary
We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to design, build, and operate reliable backend services that power customer-facing and internal products. In this role, you will take ownership of complex technical problems, improve system performance and stability, and help raise engineering standards through thoughtful collaboration and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java in a production environment
- Translate product and business requirements into scalable technical solutions with clear trade-offs
- Improve service reliability, performance, and observability through profiling, monitoring, alerting, and incident learnings
- Build and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end where applicable) to ensure quality and safe delivery
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, QA, DevOps/SRE, Security, Data) to deliver end-to-end features
- Review code, contribute to architectural decisions, and document designs to support long-term maintainability
- Participate in on-call or incident response rotations as needed and drive root-cause analysis and prevention actions
- Mentor other engineers through pairing, feedback, and knowledge sharing; contribute to a supportive team culture
- Support CI/CD practices and improve developer experience, deployment safety, and release processes

Must-Have Requirements
- Strong professional experience building backend systems with Java (e.g., Java 11+ preferred)
- Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs and service integrations
- Solid understanding of concurrency, multithreading, memory management, and JVM performance fundamentals
- Experience with SQL and relational database design, querying, and optimization (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
- Strong testing practices and hands-on experience with automated test frameworks
- Familiarity with distributed systems concepts (scalability, latency, fault tolerance, consistency)
- Comfort working in a collaborative team environment with code reviews and shared ownership
- Clear communication skills and ability to document and explain technical decisions

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with Spring Boot and related ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security)
- Experience with messaging and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of observability tooling (metrics, logging, tracing) such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry
- Experience with NoSQL data stores (e.g., Redis, MongoDB, Cassandra) and caching strategies
- Exposure to domain-driven design, microservices architecture, or modular monolith approaches
- Security awareness (OWASP, secure coding practices, authentication/authorization patterns)
