QA Engineer (Web & Browser Extensions)

About the Role

Role Title: QA Engineer (Web & Browser Extensions)

Summary
We’re looking for a QA Engineer with 3+ years of experience to help ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of web applications and Chrome extensions across multiple browsers and devices. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to prevent defects early, improve test coverage, and continuously strengthen our release process.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan, execute, and document manual testing for web applications and Chrome extensions across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
• Design and maintain test plans, test cases, and checklists covering functional, regression, exploratory, smoke, and cross-browser testing
• Identify, reproduce, and clearly report defects with strong steps-to-reproduce, logs, screenshots, and environment details
• Partner with engineers and product stakeholders to clarify requirements, define acceptance criteria, and assess risk before releases
• Validate UI/UX behavior, responsiveness, and accessibility basics across devices, screen sizes, and operating systems
• Support release readiness by coordinating regression cycles, validating fixes, and confirming go/no-go criteria
• Analyze production issues and customer-reported bugs, validate root causes, and help prevent regressions
• Improve QA processes by proposing practical enhancements to workflows, documentation, and quality gates
• Maintain a clear view of quality metrics (defect trends, escaped defects, test coverage gaps) and communicate status proactively

Must-Have Qualifications
• 3+ years of QA experience testing web applications in a professional environment
• Hands-on experience testing Chrome extensions (installation, permissions, updates, and browser-specific behaviors)
• Strong cross-browser testing experience (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and understanding of compatibility issues
• Solid knowledge of QA fundamentals: test design techniques, risk-based testing, regression strategy, and defect lifecycle
• Comfortable using browser developer tools to inspect requests, console errors, storage, and network behavior
• Experience working with issue trackers and documentation tools (e.g., Jira, YouTrack, Linear, Confluence, Notion or similar)
• Clear written communication and ability to collaborate with distributed, cross-functional teams

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience with test automation for web (e.g., Playwright, Cypress, Selenium)
• Basic knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript and ability to read code for troubleshooting
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated checks into build/release workflows
• Experience with API testing (Postman, REST clients) and validating backend responses supporting UI behavior
• Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience running lightweight accessibility checks
• Exposure to performance testing basics (Lighthouse, WebPageTest) and interpreting key web metrics

What Success Looks Like
• Releases ship with fewer regressions and clearer quality signals
• Cross-browser issues are caught early and documented with actionable detail
• Test documentation stays current and supports fast, reliable release cycles
• Communication is proactive, and stakeholders have confidence in go/no-go decisions
