Location: Remote / Hybrid (location dependent)
Seniority Level: Mid-level

Role Summary
We’re looking for a Middle Web QA Engineer to help ensure our web applications are reliable, user-friendly, and ready for production. In this role, you’ll design and execute test plans, partner closely with Engineering and Product, and contribute to improving quality practices across the software development lifecycle. If you enjoy combining strong testing fundamentals with practical automation and clear communication, we’d like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
• Plan, design, and execute test cases for web applications across functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing.
• Review product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; identify gaps and clarify expectations with stakeholders.
• Create and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, checklists, and defect reports.
• Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent user experience (desktop and mobile).
• Validate integrations and APIs using tools such as Postman; verify data correctness and error handling.
• Log, track, and triage defects with clear reproduction steps; collaborate with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Contribute to test automation by maintaining or expanding automated regression suites for critical user flows.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, refinement, stand-ups, retrospectives) and provide quality-focused input.
• Support release activities by validating fixes, running regression checks, and verifying deployment readiness.
• Continuously improve QA processes, including risk-based testing approaches, definition of done, and quality metrics.

Must-Have Requirements
• 2+ years of experience in web application testing (manual and some automation exposure).
• Strong understanding of QA fundamentals: test design techniques, defect lifecycle, and risk-based testing.
• Hands-on experience with web technologies and troubleshooting using browser DevTools (Network, Console, Application).
• Solid knowledge of HTTP basics, REST APIs, status codes, and JSON; experience validating APIs with Postman or similar tools.
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, YouTrack, TestRail, Zephyr).
• Basic SQL skills to validate data and support debugging (reads/joins at minimum).
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Comfort working in Agile/Scrum environments and taking ownership of testing tasks end-to-end.

Nice-to-Have Requirements
• Experience with UI test automation using Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and running tests in pipelines.
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, Lighthouse) and interpreting results.
• Experience testing accessibility (WCAG) and using tools like axe or Lighthouse accessibility audits.
• Understanding of security testing basics (OWASP Top 10 awareness).
• Experience working with microservices, event-driven systems, or distributed architectures.

Tools & Technology (typical)
Web browsers and DevTools, Postman, Jira/YouTrack, TestRail/Zephyr, Git, SQL, and (optionally) Playwright/Cypress/Selenium.

What Success Looks Like
• Releases ship with fewer escaped defects and clearer test coverage for key user journeys.
• Defects are reported with high-quality evidence (steps, logs, screenshots, expected vs actual).
• Regression cycles become faster and more reliable through improved test design and automation where it adds value.

Benefits & Perks
• Competitive compensation package based on location and experience
• Flexible work format (remote/hybrid) and flexible schedule options
• Paid time off and sick leave
• Learning budget and support for professional development
• Collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on product quality
